Animation Pipeline: Alembic Animation Cache, Python Texture Transfer Script
Alembic caches often break when merged into an existing object hierarchy in order to preserve material and texture assignments. This MEL script avoids this issue by allowing lighters to transfer material assignments on two assets with matching geo names. This video walks you through the process, including how to deal with XGen hair grooms following cached scalp geo.

You can download the script (coded by the amazing Shanshan He). To use it, unzip it, open the script in a text editor, and copy-paste the text into the Maya Script Editor in a Python tab. Then just hit "play" in the Script Editor to launch the GUI. To get the Maya shelf button (as shown in the video) just select the text in the Python tab and MMB-drag it into the Maya shelf.
