BG Template Setup
A background (BG) template used used to build shot for background renders. It contains the environment geometry along with all of the shot cameras. We render backgrounds separate from foregrounds to optimize render times.
- Camera Group: Create a group called CAMERAS which contains all of the cameras for this environment. The cameras should be named Shot01_1to72 and so on, reflecting the shot number and frame count.
- Geometry Group: Create a group for all of the objects in the scene and call it ENV_GEO.
- Environment toggles: Create display layer toggles, based on the Shotgun Shot Page which lists these. The display layers should be named based on the prop name and shots they are toggled for (ex: sanitizer_s22_24). We include the shot numbers because the same object may appear in multiple places.
- Render passes: Set up the render passes as described in the backgrounds section of the render pass doc.
- Multimattes: The environment elements that make up the environment should already have multimattes assigned.
- Light Selects: Create light selects for the scene as described in the background light select section of the render pass doc.
- Render Settings: Optimize the render settings based on the Static Pass Rendering doc. Additionally, change the File Name Prefix to background/[SHOT NUMBER]/%s/%l/%s (for details on this see the naming conventions doc)
